Real People Getting Blocked

Okay so I have been digging into real people being blocked as a bot on Ticketmaster, and I've found some good info. First, here is Ticketmaster's Terms of Use.

Snip-it of Terms of Use:

"We grant you a limited, conditional, no-cost, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sub-licensable license to view this Site and its Content as permitted by the Terms for non-commercial purposes only if, as a condition precedent, you agree that you will not:

...

  • Access, reload, or refresh transactional event or ticketing pages, or make any other request to transactional servers, more than once during any three-second interval.

  • Request more than 1,000 pages of the Site in any 24-hour period, whether alone or with a group of individuals..."

It seems like refreshing more than once in a three-second interval on Ticketmaster may lead to users being blocked as bots.

Note: I am not an attorney, but I think that the definition of "request" in the second bullet point is arguable, so I will not attempt to theorize what it may mean.

Text Verification Before a Queue

I have seen reports of some users while joining the queue, not being prompted to enter a code texted to them, while others are. Asked by a follower if there was anyway to remove the requirement, and intrigued that it is not the same for everyone, I contacted Ticketmaster Fan Support. Here's the messages:

Here's what was news to me:

"If you are refreshing your account alot you will be asked to verify via text to proceed to the queue. -DP"

I could not find this term/condition in the Terms and Conditions, so I proceeded to inquire about this seemingly undefined term/condition. I have not yet heard back, but I will update this post if I do.

It also seems like there is no way to get rid of text verification once you have it, according to Ticketmaster Fan Support.
